Beginning Digital Photography: Saturdays, Feb 11, 18, & 25th (18 hours).
Get past the point-and-shoot mode with your digital camera. Covers all aspects of making good digital prints for the beginners or more experienced photographers who want to increase their skills. Lots of practical exercises.

Photoshop for the Black and White Photographer. Thursday Nights, Feb 9, 16, & 23rd (six hours).
There is more to creating black and white photographs from digital files than just pushing the gray-mode button in Photoshop. Learn tricks and secrets to better B&W photographs. Adjust tonalities, dodge and burn, sharpen, add subtle color tones to mimic traditional methods.

Matting, Mounting, and Framing Photographs and other Art Objects: taught with Janice Muir, Saturday in April (TBD) (six hours).
Covers cutting mats, dry mounting (and other mounting methods), and framing mounted prints in metal or wood frames using accepted archival methods. Will qualify students for use of the Art Center mat cutters.

Printing Silver Prints from Digital Negatives: time and dates TBD based on students availability (18 hours).
This workshop (based on the book by Dan Burkholder) will teach techniques for printing silver-gelatin prints from large format paper negatives created with Photoshop and ink jet printers. This is a method that many world-famous photographers are using to create better black and white photographs with less dark room manipulations. For the photographer with advanced experience.
