Fine-Art Photographs of Northern New Mexico and Beyond by Dean Carstens
New Mexico adobe churches represent the largest body of my work and include many subjects, some photographed as early as the early 1980's. The architecture of early New Mexico churches leads to a variety of interesting and compelling compositions. Adobe is a great subject due to its complex shape and texture. All photographs in this series are sepia toned.
These are more recent photographs that I took over the last few years at the Great Sand Dunes National Monument. A great series of landscapes from this very photogenic area
.
Over the last several years I have photographed a number of ruins, from old Spanish missions to fallen down adobes. I consider these to be among my best works.
These include a number of photographs of the Taos Pueblo that I made many years ago before it was inundated with tourists.
These still life images are items I photographed in my studio. Several are recent images I took with a digital camera and converted to silver-gelatin prints using the digital-negative technology. ck on an image or its link to see more images like these |
